Chip Morgan
Chip explores another point of view of the story of the calling of the fishermen looked at in Luke recently. This sermon looks at Marks version which is simpler and states the facts more simply. As Jesus did by the Lake he speaks simply to each of us in a way that we can understand. The call comes to ordinary, busy people. It is a positive definitive call that requires a response.

Tim Hodge
(Audio missing 1st 5 mins sorry). Tim ‘microwaves’ a sermon from our Highway 1 series of 2015. Just as State Highway 1 is a long and varied road with heaps of different terrain yet just one road, so too is the Bible long and varied with heaps of different terrain yet just one message – God redeeming a people for himself. This message is about Jesus being the key to narrative Bible passages. The whole Bible points to Jesus, including in the classic story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. This chapter is not primarily about us being David and defeating our giants, but about David pointing to Jesus, about David being a champion who fights on behalf of the Israelites and Jesus being a champion who has fought on our behalf.

What is the most famous verse in the Bible? Who spoke those words? To whom? Yes, Jesus talking to Nicodemus in John 3 are rightly famous words. It’s not the only time Nicodemus is in John’s gospel. Tim takes us through all 3 occasions John features Nicodemus, and we see that Nicodemus is investigating Jesus, interested in Jesus, and finally identifies with Jesus. What about us? Which of the 3 are we? Which of the 3 are our family and friends?
