This is a highlights video of the official opening on 20 February 2026 of the new building called Te whare tōtara in Greenlane, Auckland. This building is owned by New Zealand Baptists and various entities. The building houses the Baptist National Support Centre, the Northern Baptist Association office, our theological college: Carey Baptist College, and our mission agency: Arotahi. The building is also intended to generate income so there are also some tenants that are not part of the Baptist family.

In this video Charles Hewlett (Baptist National Leader) and Glenn Melville (Centre for Lifelong Learning), introduce the Baptist Registration process for pastoral leaders, chaplains, ministry/mission leaders, Kaiārahi Māori, and Baptist entity leaders. In August 2022 our Assembly Council presented the outcome of an 18-month review of the registration process that first began in 1996. The full details of the new Baptist Registration process and how to apply or renew can be found via the baptist.nz website. This video introduces how to apply to registration and some of the changes.

Charles Hewlett (our National Leader) believes that robust leadership of Baptist faith communities is absolutely crucial if we are to bring gospel renewal to people and places in our local neighbourhoods.In a recent Zoom conversation Charles reflected with Jonny Weir about how robust leaders are formed. Jonny is the Director of Ministry Training at Carey Baptist College – he oversees our college’s pastoral leadership training, how we as a movement of faith communities invest in future leaders.
