Mana Atua – The Power of God is a Christian feature documentary revealing the radical power of the gospel right here in Aotearoa. Made by Fantail Studios, it follows Lucky Te Koha’s journey through the love of Christ, empowering gangs to conquer the shadows of abuse, addiction, and violence.

This film challenges public perceptions of gangs, going past the patches and intimidation to reveal common human ground, namely the desire to feel loved, to be fathered, and to know that your children are taken care of.

We asked Motueka Baptist pastor Paul Cossey for his thoughts on why this documentary is significant.

“I have watched excerpts from Mana Atua – The Power of God, and it demonstrates the unique power of the good news and God's love to transform lives, reconcile people and cause them to have a love for those who were once their enemies. It happens through ordinary people carrying the love of God into the most challenging of places.

I love hearing stories of transformation and reconciliation and the part that we get to play in that (2 Cor 5.17-20). I love how God can work in people and places that many in our society (and sometimes in the churches) have written off and think are hopeless cases.

Fantail Studios is giving churches and ministries an opportunity to preview and show the documentary before it premiers in cinemas through Aotearoa. Their purpose is that through these early viewings, people will invite folk to go with them or recommend the documentary to friends and family.

This would be ideal to be shown in a men's ministry, a community outreach, or on a marae. Will you take this opportunity to pass on the info to someone who can run with it and spread the message of Mana Atua?”

*You will receive emails from Fantail Studios with complimentary promotional material (posters, tickets), and closer to the release date, an exclusive streaming link for Mana Atua – The Power of God, accessible from 24 August to 15 September 2024. This premiere screening is only available in New Zealand.
